Intermediate art

Students will connect processes and decisions made in the design of tarot cards. They will think about how the cards art and design relate to the social changes, technological advances, and aesthetic sensibilities of their particular era. They will research the meaning of individual cards and pick one to develop. They will research a specific art movement or time period to connect the tarot card to visual literacy.

Tarot Cards

Transparent Objects

Students will analyze artwork across historical and cultural periods that contain transparent objects and explain the influences of the imagery. They will compose a still life using transparent objects using resources from home. They will make informed choices in the selection of materials and techniques as they relate to solving a visual problem. 

Daily Self-Portraits

Students will describe how social media art challenges inspire artists to create artwork. They will make informed choices in the selection of materials and techniques in the making of their daily self-portrait challenge. 

Critter Crossing

Students will analyze Dan Reeder’s paper mache dragons to learn how to incorporate recycled materials into their own projects. They will choose an animal, use recycled materials to create an additive sculpture, paper mache, and paint their animal form.
